The construction, from the end of the 19th century, beginning of the 20th century, demonstrates the splendor of an era, where good -taste and refinement, even among the nouveau riche. Part of the urban legends is the story of the Portuguese creator and builder, who came to Brazil to make his fortune and, upon returning, took the most beautiful and strongest wood he found to make his home. Taking advantage of one of the largest quarries in Europe, located on the Spanish side, in Padrenda, he decided to structure his residence on stone blocks measuring approximately 1 m x 60 cm x 50 cm. The use of this technique in most of the construction demonstrates the care and precision of the construction, which adds immeasurable value. from the lower floor. The minimum thickness of 60 cm was maintained for the external walls on all walls. windows on the front of the building, next to the entrance, in addition to using the most classic model of stonework, the builder seems to abuse the technique, by ordering the Coat of Arms with the Symbol of the Maltese Cross, in honor of the country in which he was born, and the Coat of Arms of the Federative Republic of Brazil, showing gratitude to the country that welcomed him and gave him the opportunity to prosper. The property faces west, allowing the morning sun to bathe the back of the house in the morning. Its front rooms and bedrooms are blessed with the afternoon sun. These rooms maintain better heat during the cold winter periods, helped by the abundant amount of wood used inside.
The project for the construction of the property, as far as is known and told by the local population, came with the owner and builder from Brazil . It is characterized by large halls and rooms and high ceilings, when most properties in the region, at the time, only had large common areas (halls and kitchens), with the others, on the contrary, small and low (easier to be heated). The renovation carried out by the current owners kept the main features intact, only creating plaster walls to cover up plumbing (necessary for bathrooms/bathrooms, and water heating system, which did not exist in the original project) and wiring (for heating, systems surveillance and internet distribution, since the 60 cm external walls make any signal impossible to obtain inside the house, if it were not for the adapted distribution). Casa Azul has as its neighbors the Church of the Parish of Cristóval, a construction from the beginning of the 20th century, with a nice tower that vaguely resembles the shape of the famous Cléricos Tower, a demand that the builder's wife made to her husband to make a replica of the same, which was far from occurring, but simple reproduction remained, on a very small scale.
